What wind chill tells you
Wind removes heat from exposed skin faster. The National Weather Service chart groups conditions by estimated frostbite time. It does not mean objects cool below the actual air temperature, and it does not describe ice on the route.
The NWS chart combines temperature and wind speed and marks conditions where frostbite can occur on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less.
What it leaves out
Wet clothing, sunshine, individual circulation, age, health, medication, pace, clothing, route exposure, altitude, and shelter access can change risk. Wind can also create blowing snow, visibility loss, and balance problems before the chart alone looks decisive.
Make it operational
- Read the current wind chill and warning.
- Cover skin and block wind appropriately.
- Use a shorter sheltered loop.
- Carry communication and keep a rapid return available.
- Move inside if symptoms or conditions worsen.

Walk More! You can do it!
WalkTeaming is an Android walking league. On any day you reach 2,337 steps, that day can qualify as your score. Your best qualifying day of the week goes onto a five-walker team, and the app supplies both your team and a matched opponent.
You do not recruit teammates or share a schedule. Use the button to email the Google account on your Android phone. You will get a reply with the current access instructions.
Try WalkTeamingThe 2,337-step threshold is a game rule, not a medical target. Your email opens with the request already written.
